Several years ago I was honored to make the acquaintance of Pete Dowan on Facebook. He hail’s from Canada and he’s a musician who has written many warm and heartfelt songs often based on his life experiences. Pete has spent a considerable portion of his life in the hospital and under the care and supervision of doctors and nurses. He developed a strong affection and respect for nurses and one of his songs is a tribute to The Ladies in White. Wearing white is synonymous with nurses although for a long while now nurses have worn colorful uniforms and scrubs. Scrubs have come to be the most popular choice. And with so many options they will never be considered to be boring as was the old white nurses uniform and cap. When Patients Say Thanks it’s Special!!!
When patients thank us for what we do as nurses, it’s really special. And when they take the time to do something unique it’s very gratifying!! Pete Dowan is a disabled musician who writes and records his own music in his basement in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. He has spent a lot of time in hospitals and around nurses and he wrote a song to say thanks to the Ladies in White.
