I hope everyone had a great holiday season! Admittedly, it was a little rough around the edges for me and my family. We had some losses of family and friends. It’s probably the main reason I haven’t posted in a while, but now it’s time to move forward with the new year and focus on setting intentions. While others are making and even breaking resolutions already, I choose to set Intentions. Resolutions have a connotation for something that needs to be fixed or resolved and in a quick time frame. Resolutions can be too easily rejected or cast aside when it becomes too much to carry them out. Usually, a…

Happy New Year!
Each new year represents a blank page for us to begin a new chapter of our journey. This opens up many many possibilities. Take time to reflect on the past and think carefully about the direction you wish to head in for this new chapter. Hopefully your path will bring you many new experiences and memories to cherish. Prepare to hit some bumps in the road and a few forks that will cause you to pause and question which way to go. Trust your gut feelings and once in awhile stick your neck out there and take a little risk. Look for the good in things and know in your…

Reflect Back and Reward Yourself — You Are a Nurse, You Make a Difference!
As 2013 comes to a close in the next 12 days, it’s time to reflect back on the year and find joy and rewards in the care you have given your patients. Take credit for making a difference is someone’s life. Feel honored and respected and appreciated even though there may have been few “Thank You’s” or little recognition of your efforts. Happy New Year!
It’s hard to find someone who isn’t ready to say good riddance to 2009 and soon it will be behind us along with one of the most difficult decades. At the same time, we bring the lessons we have learned forward with us into the new decade. The challenges we faced will make us stronger and provide us with the knowledge and courage to face the future. As nurses, the general public looks to us for comfort and guidance. Hopefully the new decade will provide us with the tools to save more lives, comfort more loved ones and the skills, talents and abilities to make a difference in many more…

Happy New Year
I always feel a little nostalgic about leaving a year behind and going into a new one, but 2008 is one of those years that isn’t too hard to say good riddance to. There were some good times, but the economic disaster certainly put a damper on it for all of us. They say it’s going to get worse before it gets better. Isn’t that always the way? Did you think it could get much worse? It’s pretty scary to think about how much worse things can get. Being my Scarlett O’Hara self, I’ll think about that tomorrow…..today it’s time to celebrate the passing of this year and the dawning…
