Diploma nursing programs are a dying breed and in 2011, another one will close. Unfortunately, there aren’t more ADN and BSN programs jumping up to take the places and there continues to be tremendous shortage of nurse educators.

I graduated form a Diploma Program in 2007, however I also received a Associates Degree in Science, I have noticed lately that more and more hospitals are requiring BSN level nurses to even apply for a particular position. I have not been able to get a job in the hospital since and it is very depressing. I decided to go back to school and pursue my BSN, so I missed out on the tuition reimbursement and perks. I hope that this BSN will increase my chances.
