A fellow nurse was killed by ICE on Saturday, January 24,2026. Everyday something new reminds us we are NO LONGER SAFE in our own beloved country! Alex Pretti RN was trying to defend and help a woman at a protest against ICE tactics in Minneapolis, MN regarding the recent shooting of citizen Renee Goode. The woman had been knocked down by ICE agents and Pretti was defending her.
It hits home hard when it’s one of our own. Pretti, an ICU nurse at the Veterans hospital in Minneapolis. Alex was just 37 years old. He was holding his phone in one hand and his left hand was above his head and empty. ICE agents had already taken away the weapon which he was legally carrying, but Not brandishing!. There are multiple videos from multiple vantage points including body cams which have just been discovered.
Today, even the NRA is arguing that Pretti had a right to carry his weapon and that the US Government has it wrong! OMG has hell frozen over?! Read that again! The 2nd Amendment is being called into consideration. CONGRESS now it’s your turn to demand a full and FAIR investigation! Nurses have set up a Petition demanding Congress do their job!! Please sign it. There is No financial obligation! All Alex wanted to do with his life was make a difference. Friends, colleagues, family and neighbors have given testimonials that he did indeed make. a difference. Now it is our turn to Demand that Congress investigate this illegal act.
Call and write to your Senators and Congresspeople to DEMAND that they STOP funding ICE and demand they exit our communities! This is AMERICA, not a police state!!! Find your representatives here. Type in your Zip Code and it will bring up your elected officials. The phone numbers and addresses are right there. If you call after hours, you’ll reach the voice mail and you can leave a message. Or call during office hours and ask to speak with their aide covering immigration and ICE issues. Writing postcards and letters has always proven to be effective, and creating an avalanche of mail right now could be very motivating! Call daily! Even if your officials are on our side, they need to hear the demands from their constituents.
A simple script: “Hello I am ______(name) and I am your constituent in _______ (city or county). Please do your job and Demand a full investigation of the Alex Pretti killing! Further help protect our country by shutting off funding for ICE! Thank you!”
