10 Intentions for Nurses for 2026

It’s that time again – to set 10 intentions for 2206. Not resolutions, not goals, but intentions. An intention emphasizes mindset, values and presence in life daily. It focuses on how you want to be rather than what you want to achieve. While resolutions or goals are outcome-driven and lead to specific results or deadlines. They are often difficult and easily abandoned when steps fail to succeed.

Intention are more flexible. They are gentler, and for nurses they are more supportive. Intentions honor progress and self-compassion and they thrive on sustainabilty instead of perfection.

For 2026, I offer you 10 new intentions…

1) Set and Honor Health Boundaries – I will protect my time, my energy and my well-being without guilt

2) Be fully present with patients and colleagues – I will listen with intention, respond with empathy and value each and every human interaction

3) Advocate Confidently and Respectfully – I will speak up for my patients, my profession and myslef

4) Cultivate resilience through reflection – I will acknowledge difficult moments and allow myself space to process and heal

5) Grow professionally with curiosity, not pressure –  I will continue learning in ways that feel meaningful and aligned with my nursing journey

6) Celebrate small wins – I will recognize the impact of everyday nursing moments, even when they are unseen

7) Foster teamwork and kindness –  I will contribute to a culture of collaboration, support and mutual respect

8) Practice compassionate self-care –  I will care for y own physical, emotional, and mental health with the same dedication I give my patients

9) Reconnect with my purpose – I will remember why I chose nursing and allow that purpose to guide my days

10) Invite balance and joy into my life – I will make room for rest, laughtert and fulfillment both inside and outside of work

May 2026 bring Peace, Love and Joy to us all! Happy New Year!!!!
